Warren Miller Gentry

92, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2013 at his home in Scottsdale. Warren was born in Manville, Wyoming on October 3, 1921 and graduated from Lance Creek High School. He relocated to California in the 1940's and was an Airline Mechanic during the Second World War. After the War, he moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University. Upon graduation in 1950, Warren taught Art History at both Miami High School and Phoenix Union High School. He later joined the faculty at Glendale Community College as a Professor of Art History from 1963 until he retired in 1986. He was also the Head of the Art Department for the College during his tenure. Subsequent to his retirement, Warren was a successful entrepreneur opening the Gentry Gallery with his wife Billie Axline Gentry. During retirement, Warren and Billie pursued their love of travel and enjoyed trips to China, Africa, Europe, Central and South America. They also developed a love for their canine companions and had a special fondness for the Bouvier des Flandres. Those who knew him enjoyed his wit and humor. He was passionate about his paintings and art collections, and enjoyed sharing them with others. His love of Cowboys, Church, Country and people was a part of his generous nature. He will be missed by all of those who loved him. Warren was preceded in death by his wife Billie who passed away on November 4, 2008. Warren is survived by his longtime friend Fern Porter, Sons Ed (Shannon), Tom (Debbie) and Brad, and grandchildren Jennifer and Jay (Hope)

A memorial service will be held at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road in Scottsdale on Saturday, November 16th at 2:00 PM, with a reception following at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contribution be made to , 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014
