Marilyn Jean Jacobson was born on November 7, 1938 in Sioux Falls, SD to Martin and Gladys (Osthus) Jacobson. She was raised and received her education in Centerville, SD. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Centerville. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1954. In August of 1958, Marilyn was united in marriage with Daryl Miller. She then continued her education at Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD; earning her Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1961. Her first teaching position was at Plainview Elementary School in Plainview, NE, followed by West Lyon Elementary in Alvard, IA until 1964. On April 22, 1964, Marilyn was blessed with the birth of her daughter, Cindy. She then took a break from teaching to become a full time mother. In 1984, Marilyn's passion for teaching, and touching the lives of children led her back into education for the next 24 years; teaching at Summit Oaks, Hawthorne, Eugene Field, Franklin, Garfield and Lowell Elementary retiring in 2002.

Marilyn was a strong woman of faith being an active member of East Side Lutheran Church where she served in WELCA, as a Bethel leader, Mother's Circle, the library committee, church council and working with the educational assistants. She also played the hand bells and sang in the church choir for many years.

Marilyn enjoyed working at church, attending county western music concerts; especially WeFest, going to dinner and movies with friends and planting flowers.

She also enjoyed traveling and in 2006 she took her "dream vacation" with her daughter to Norway. Above all she was a proud grandmother to Gianni and Vincent. She loved spending time with them and watching their sporting events.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Cindy Miller-Guadagno and her husband, Tony of Maple Grove, MN; two grandsons, Gianni & Vincent Guadagno of Maple Grove, MN; brother, Boyd Jacobson and his wife, Helen of Viborg, SD; niece, Jeana Austin and her husband, Todd of Viborg, SD; and nephew, Charles Jacobson and his wife, Allie of Chapel Hill, NC.
