Michael "Mike" Reid, 73, died August 26, 2013 at the Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Born in Seattle, WA October 21, 1939 to C. E. "Mickey" and Mary (Johnson) Reid, Mike was raised in various cities and US Army posts throughout the world. He graduated a Bachelor of Science in Business at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, in 1963; and commissioned into the United States Army in November of that year. Mike served in Korea, Vietnam and Germany in addition to several posts throughout the US.

Mike was united in marriage to Lynda Lake Reese on March 20, 1964. He and Lynda had one child, Donna. Following his discharge from the Army, Mike began his second career as an Industrial Hygienist at the Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. At that time he met his second wife, Betty (Sundermann) Lacey. They were married December 31, 1994. Following Mike's retirement in 1998 they moved to Sioux Falls.

Mike enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies; and was an active volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Master Gardeners, and Habitat for Humanity.

Mike is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Donna (Kirk) Crawford of Lomita CA; his step children; Matthew (Melissa) Lacey of Flandreau SD, W. Greg (Wendy) Lacey Brandon SD, and Sarah (Jon) Gustad of Canton SD; his brothers John (Susan) Reid of Camdenton MO, and James Reid (Jeanne Leffingwell) of Moscow ID; 11 grandchildren; and his former wife, Lynda Reese Reid of Manhattan KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters; Mary Kathleen Reid and Marjorie Reid Fabian.

Visitation will be on Sunday September 29, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S Main Ave., with the family present at 5:00 with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday September 30, at 1:30 PM at Calvary Cathedral, 500 S Main Ave.
