BEAZLEY, Ben Ben Beazley, age 62, died February 27th, 2014 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. He was an attorney in private practice and lived in Smyrna, Ga. He was a talented musician and maintained an active avocation in music. Along with several high school friends, he formed the "Topp Brass" instrumental combo which for many years was a marquee performing ensemble at Six Flags Over Georgia. Ben maintained his life long love of music by entertaining with his musician friends in several different groups and at various venues. One of his most memorable experiences occurred when, as a valuable, longstanding member of the very popular Sweet Tooth Band, he performed at President Jimmy Carter's inauguration celebration in 1977. For many years he also performed with the Bill Patton Band of Atlanta. Benjamin Wilson Beazley was born in Athens, Georgia to Mary Wilson Beazley and Herschel V. Beazley on October 2,1951. He lived in Crawfordville and Atlanta as a youth. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1969, following which he graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science cum laude in 1973. He completed his education at Emory University earning the Doctor of Law (JD) in 1976, becoming a member of the State Bar of Georgia. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Melanie Morton Beazley of Smyrna; two sons, Benjamin Wilson Beazley (Wilson) of Atlanta and Elliott Morton Beazley of Atlanta and Chicago; his mother, Mary Wilson Beazley of Atlanta; a brother, Herschel V. Beazley, Jr. of Atlanta; and a cousin, Sandra Wilson King of Atlanta. He was predeceased by his father, Herschel V. Beazley, in 1998. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Carmichael Funeral Home, 2950 King Street SE, Smyrna, Georgia, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Gil Watson officiating.
