Family-Placed Death Notice

CLAPP, Edwin Mr. Edwin W. Clapp age 87 of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on August 30th. He was born in Atlanta in January 1926, to Edwin M. and Viola Clapp. He was a lifelong Atlanta resident. He was preceded in death by his second wife Patricia Bannister of Texas and his sister Miss Alice Elizabeth Clapp of Atlanta. He is survived by his son Norman E. Clapp and wife Geri of Alpharetta, Ga, Daughters Ellen Miller and husband Happy of Port St. Lucie, Fl., Allison Morris and husband Jerry of Cumming, Ga. and Betsy Orrie and husband Alan of Cumming, Ga. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Clapp enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the residential real estate industry in Atlanta. He joined Mrs. Harry Norman and Associates Realtors as vice president and broker of their first branch office, in Dunwoody in 1967 and retiring in 1992. He was instrumental in promoting Harry Norman Realtors to the forefront of the Atlanta residential real estate market. Mr. Clapp served on the Board of Governors for the Ga. Realtors Institute from 1976-81 and also served as dean of the Georgia Realtor's Institute in 1979-80. Mr. Clapp graduated from Boys High in Atlanta in 1944. Served in the Army Air Corp during the latter part of WWII. After returning from the service, he attended The Babson Institute in Massachusetts where he received a B. A. in Business Administration in 1949. After graduating, Mr. Clapp worked in sales with several large companies before entering the residential real estate industry in 1959. He was a charter member of the Dunwoody Rotary Club where he was involved for over 30 years. Ed, always the optimist had a wonderful sense of humor and appreciated a good joke. He loved college football and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan as well as an Atlanta Braves fan. He rarely missed watching an Atlanta Braves game. For years he lived on Lake Lanier where he enjoyed boating, gardening and spending time with his family. In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to "The Empty Stocking Fund or Angels Among Us. Memorial service will be held at Roswell Funeral Home on Wed Sept 4th at 3:00.
