KINSAUL, J. Aulbert J. Aulbert "Kinny" Kinsaul J. Aulbert "Kinny" Kinsaul, formerly of Avondale Estates, GA died January 30, 2014 at the Fountainview Center for Alzheimer's Disease in Atlanta. He was born May 27, 1926 in Wicksburg, AL, son of the late Albert Monroe Kinsaul and Bama Windham Kinsaul. Mr. Kinsaul was predeceased by six brothers, five sisters and a son, John Kinsaul. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Christie King Kinsaul of Atlanta, daughter Carol Ann Arvan of Avondale Estates, sister-in-law Alice Long of Abilene, TX and several nieces and nephews. After graduating with honors from Toccoa (GA) High School in 1944, Mr. Kinsaul enlisted in the US Navy and served for two years. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) and a Master of Science degree from Mercer University in Macon, GA. While at Mercer he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and Blue Key honor society. He was a four year letterman in basketball and track, and was later inducted into the Mercer University Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Kinsaul began his coaching and teaching career in 1950 as an assistant football and track coach and social studies teacher at Terrell County High School in Dawson, GA. In 1954 he was named head football and track coach at Montgomery County High School in Mount Vernon, GA. During his nine years there he was selected Montgomery County Teacher of the Year in 1958 and Region II-B Track Coach of the Year in 1961 and 1963. After completing requirements for the Education Specialist degree in Administration at the University of Georgia, Mr. Kinsaul accepted the position of Principal at Waynesboro (GA) Junior High in 1963. He next served as Principal at Swainsboro (GA) High School starting in 1967 and later served as Principal at Swainsboro Elementary School, where he retired in 1986. Mr. Kinsaul was active in many professional organizations including the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association; county, state and national education associations; both the Georgia and National Association of Elementary School Principals; and the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders. He served in several leadership positions: President of the Emanuel County Association of Educators, President of the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals, and member of the Georgia Teacher Education and Professional Standards Commission, the Georgia Teacher Education Council and the Georgia Professional Practices Commission. In 1965 he was elected to Phi Delta Kappa professional education fraternity. Following retirement Mr. Kinsaul was a long time member of the Avondale Estates Condominium Board of Directors and a volunteer with the Decatur Emergency Assistance Ministry. As a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Decatur, he was active on the grounds committee and the lay pastoral transportation committee. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 13 at Holy Trinity Parish, 515 East Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, GA with the Reverend Jenna Faith Spivak officiating. Family visitation and a reception will be held at the church following scattering of the ashes in the memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the of Georgia, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346 or the Mercer University Athletic Foundation, 1400 Coleman Avenue, Macon, GA 31207-0001.
