Robert EDWARDS Obituary
EDWARDS, Robert Robert Bruce Edwards, 84, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014, after an extended illness. Bruce was born on June 21, 1930 in Decatur, GA to Fred and Mattie Edwards. He was a graduate of Tucker High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Bruce retired from the Dekalb County Sheriff's Department after serving many years on the fugitive squad. He finished his career with the Fulton County Marshal's Office. Mr. Edwards was active in Georgia politics and community affairs and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Loganville. He was a participant in the Chose Wood Community Reunion every year and advocated for people who could not advocate for themselves. He and his wife, Joni, later resided at Delmar Gardens and truly enjoyed their time there. Bruce was preceded in death by his loving wife Anna "Joni" Edwards, siblings Winifred Edwards, Lela Boggos and Raymond Edwards. Survivors include children and stepchildren Robbie Edwards Millner, Joyce Ann Edwards, Robert Bruce Edwards, Jr., Laurie Edwards Rebhann, Phillip Lamar Edwards, Stephanie Sands Bryant and Sandra Sands Tromm, brothers Phillip Lamar Edwards, Sr. and Fred Roy Edwards, Jr., 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
