MARCEL BEAUREGARD - BURLINGTON - Marcel Beauregard, 87, longtime resident of Burlington, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, after a long illness, with his loving wife, Rachel, at his side. Marcel was born March 21, 1925, in Saco, Maine, the son of Maurice and Imelda Beauregard. He was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass. He married Rachel Madeline Poirier on April 6, 1953, in Biddeford, Maine. That same year they moved to Burlington, where he started work for TA Haigh Lumber Co. and became one of four owners shortly after. He sold the company when he retired in 1994. Marcel was in the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He was an avid beekeeper for many years. He was one of the founding members of the Crescent Beach Association, longtime parishioner of the St. Mark's Church and a member of the Elks club. He very much enjoyed making home brew, boating and fishing, especial ice fishing. One of his greatest pleasures was spending summers at their residence in Ocean Park, Maine. Besides his wife, Rachel, he leaves his sons, Guy and wife, Barbara Beauregard, of Alburgh, Paul and wife, Sharon Beauregard, of So. Burlington and Robert Beauregard of Biddeford, Maine; daughters, Carmen White of Burlington and Marie Beauregard of Burlington; and grand- daughters, Melissa and husband, Scott Smith, of Saco, Maine, Tonya Beauregard of Fairfax, Tracey and husband, Christopher Hatch, of Waltham, Mass. and Michaela Beauregard of Burlington. Marcel also leaves his brother, Marc and wife, Rachel Beauregard, of Saco, Maine; his brother-in-law, Jerry and wife, Mary Poirier, of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Carol Poirier of West Brook, Maine; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Roger Beauregard, in 1976. A special thanks to the TLC caregivers and the VNA for all of their compassion and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church in Burlington. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford, Maine. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington.
