Carol Thompson Obituary

Carol Cross Thompson, 79, of Annapolis, MD, passed away on March 21, 2021 after living with Parkinson's for 23 years . She leaves behind her beloved husband William(Bill) E. Thompson; her children Karen Brown Beveridge (Peter) and David Brown (Brenda); and four grandchildren Kelsey and Westin Beveridge, Harrison and Torie Brown. She is predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walker Cross, and her brother, Dr. John Cross. Carol was raised in Bethesda, MD where she graduated from National Cathedral School and the University of Maryland. Carol was an avid sports fan for her Terps, UConn Huskies, and the Washington Football Team. She was the lead cheerleader for her grandchildren at their activities and sporting events. Carol was a fundraising executive for various nonprofits and educational institutions. Her greatest professional legacy is the founding of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County in 1998. Today, CFAAC has assets of over $22.6M. In 2020 CFAAC administered over 830 grants and distributed $4.8M across 300+ non-profits in Anne Arundel County and beyond.
