Donald M. Hintz Obituary
Hintz, Donald M. 91, passed away February 17, 2013. Survived by his two children, Jim Hintz, Betty (Richard) Hemmeter; two grandchildren, Laura (Peter) Putnam, Eric (Ginny) Hemmeter; four great-grandchildren, Thomas and Matthew Putnam, Zoey and Skylar Hemmeter; two sisters, Mary (Edward) Vander Veen, Ruth Ann Beyers; and eight nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Gladys, and his parents, Edith and Cyrus Hintz. Don was a longtime Northbrook resident having been in the first graduation class of Northbrook High School in 1939. He worked his entire career at Culligan, Inc. starting in 1941. He traveled the world for Culligan until his retirement in 1984 making 62 crossings of the Atlantic and 11 of the Pacific. He served in the Army Corp of Engineers during WWII from October 1943 until March 1945. His passions were his family, The Village Presbyterian Church of Northbrook, The Northbrook Historical Society, and woodworking. Memorial Service Friday, March 1st at 10:30 AM at Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 Shermer Road, Northbrook. Arrangements by N.H. Scott & Hanekamp, 847-998-1020.
