iconJesse Ingram Hight, age 94, passed away, February 13, 2013. He was the husband of 56 years of Beatrice Mary Mayfield Hight (deceased) and father of Susan Hight (Michael Ortmeier) and Philip Hight. Jesse served in the 106th Infantry Division of the US Army from 1942 to 1945. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded in action at Schnee Eifel. He was awarded the Purple Heart, 4 Bronz Stars and the Good Conduct, American Campaign, European African Middle Eastern Campaign and World War II Victory Medals. Jesse graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL in1950 and taught in Illinois Public School District 89 for 25 years, retiring in 1980. Jesse and Beatrice married in 1943. They operated several family businesses including J-Bee Enterprises and Business Services and Supplies. Jesse died peacefully in his home in Arlington, VA with his family at his side. He will be lovingly remembered for his ability to share his knowledge of history, politics, literature, craftsmanship, outdoorsmanship and natural history with others. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013, from 9am until noon, with services 10 am at Herdegen-Brieske Funeral Home, 1356 W. Wellington Ave, Chicago, IL 60657, Flowers may be sent to the Funeral Home. Donations in memory of Jesse I.
