Arnison, Thomas M. Born March 10, 1927 in Evanston, Illinois to Thomas and Ann Arnison, passed away April 18, 2013. Tom was a graduate of Grant High School in Fox Lake, IL. He served in the US Navy and upon return attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier. He was a life insurance executive (CLU) and financial planner. In 1953 Tom married his beloved Alice Pikkarainen in Waukegan, IL. They were blessed with 3 loving children, Nancy Arnison of Grand Rapids, MI, Lynn (Leonard) Kaliski of Palatine, IL and Thomas (Michele) Arnison of Deerfield, IL. He was cherished grandfather of Jeanne Kaliski and "Grandpa Tom" to Jackie and James LeJeune. Tom and Alice lived in Northbrook, IL for 36 years and retired to their beloved Paddock Lake for 21 years. They returned to Northbrook in 2010 to enjoy their active retirement at Covenant Village. Tom was known for his warmth, generosity and constant smile. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Always athletic, Tom loved boating and water skiing and took special interest in teaching his children's friends how to ski. Tom earned many awards for his extraordinary work in lake conservation, and in 2004 he was honored by the State of Wisconsin as Outstanding Lake Leader. Tom and Alice enjoyed world travel and warm winters on Maui. Most of all, Tom loved spending time with his family. A visitation was held Monday, April 22, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview, IL. The funeral service was held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 23 at 11 a.m., preceded by a visitation at the church at 10 a.m. The church is located at 1133 Pfingsten Rd. (at Cherry Ln.), Northbrook, IL 60062. Interment private. Memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or Christ Lutheran Church, 24929 75th Street, Paddock Lake, WI 53168.
