Maryann GAJUS Obituary

Maryann, Age 81. Born January 16, 1932 in Cincinnati passed away peacefully in Sem Haven on Monday, May 20, 2013. Maryann grew up and lived in Norwood. Saint Peter and Paul Parish was her second home. It's where she attended grade school, was the parish secretary for Father Gregory Miller, was a school teacher, and was married. She is a graduate of Regina High School class of 1950 and Xavier Teacher's College. After raising her children she dedicated many years at Bethesda Oak Hospital in patient admissions before retiring. Maryann was one of two children, born to the late Louis and Francis Igel. She absolutely cherished her brother Louis. Married 53 years to her beloved husband Harold (Dee). Maryann will be forever remembered as a loving mother to Dan, Dave (Cindy), Doug (Glenda) and Gayle (CA). Treasured grandchildren, Brian, David, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Christopher, Alison, Jaime, Ben, Trevor, great granddaughter Adelaide, and her little sidekick and constant companion, GG, along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know her. She was named by her first grandson and known to her family as "Monnie." A true adventurer, she loved traveling to visit her children. She loved the outdoors and being in nature. Monnie was a sports enthusiast and one of Payton Manning's biggest fans. She was always so loving and provided so much joy to others as a selfless caregiver. Her friends and family always took comfort in knowing she would be there if ever needed. She adored her animals who were always just happy being in her presence. She meant so much to her students and continued to be an ongoing mentor in their lives. Monnie was a wonderful friend always there to listen, encourage, and provide support. She loved to laugh. She had a way of drawing people together with her uplifting spirit. She would wipe your tears, bring you supper, and mend your broken heart. Monnie's greatest gift was being a mom to many. In her final service to others she bequeathed her body to the University of Cincinnati, School of Medicine for research and teaching purposes. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 10:30 am on May 24th at Holy Trinity Church, 2420 Drex Ave. Norwood.
