Aaron Blake Wells

Canton - Aaron Blake Wells, 27, of Canton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Medwest-Haywood. Aaron was born on December 18, 1985, to Gary and Deborah Davis Wells. Aaron was a unique, artistic, and very outgoing individual. He never met a stranger and was known as a gallant young man. Aaron participated for three out of four years with the Pisgah track team in the state championships. He was also an avid outdoorsman. Aaron served his country honorably as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, having served two deployments in Iraq as a combat engineer. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, two Sea Deployment Ribbons, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 1 Campaign Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, two Certificates of Appreciation, a Certificate of Commendation, a Letter of Appreciation, the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge.

Aaron was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Bula Davis.

Left to cherish his legacy are his parents Gary and Deborah Wells; one brother, Andrew Wells (Audrey); one nephew, Lucas; paternal grandparents, Zene and Janot Wells; one aunt Lynn Davis Lahm (Richard); two uncles, David Wells (Freda) and Brian Wells; four cousins, Charles and Wesley Wells, Kristen and Kaitlyn Lahm; his faithful friend Harley; and his extended family and friends throughout the world.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Doctor Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his "closest friends and brothers in arms". The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 18, 2013, at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to Operation Helmet at to help protect our heroes serving our country.

The family would like to offer a word of thanks to the Haywood County EMS.
