Mamie Ray Bradberry

Mamie Ray Bradberry (Cummins) of McCool, MS passed away on June 8, 2014. She was 84 years old.

Mamie was born on August 8, 1929 at her family home in the Pan Handle community, the daughter of Issac M. "Ike" Cummins and Ada Morgan Cummins. On April 17, 1948, she married her husband of 37 years, Woodie Burnell Ray in Lexington, MS. He preceded her in death in 1985. Mamie and Woodie made their home on Ray Road in the Pan Handle Community where they raised their two children, Linda and Bill. Mamie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother (Mamaw Ray) and homemaker. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a kind and gentle person. She was a talented cook, gardener and quilter. She spent many hours growing and canning vegetables to share with her family and neighbors. Her family treasures her quilts.

Mamie was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. In 1943, she accepted Christ as her savior.

Mamie is survived by: husband, Maxie D. Bradberry; son: Bill Ray (Morge); Stepsons: Mike Bradberry (Pam), Mark Bradberry (Kim); Sisters: Leslie Quarles and Lucille Weir; Grandchildren: Lonna Arnault, Monica Arnault, Craig Arnault (Crystal), Carrie Doyle (Jay), Gayle Fortenberry (Keith), Marty Crowder (Kathrine), Mikell Bradberry, Mackey Bradberry, Mackenzie Bradberry and Mason Bradberry; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mamie was also preceded in death by her daughter Linda Crowder; brother Mayron Isaac Cummins and sisters Katherine Ducharme and Louise Braswell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12 at Hopewell Baptist Church from 9 am until 11 am. The memorial service will begin at 11 am at Hopewell.
