Roy Gene Walker, 79, of Irving, surrounded by family and friends, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Church of Christ in Coppell. Jarrod Robinson, minister of Riverside Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Temple Ministries, 2526 Columbus Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76164, honoring great-nephew Nick Panzera. Roy was born May 22, 1934, to Eula Pearl and John Richard Walker and raised in Mineral Wells. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Roy proudly served his country in the National Guard. He was an accountant for Cox Oil; retired, and later worked for Southwest Airlines. Roy had a love for racquetball, exercise, bridge, being with family and friends, and spending time with his beloved dog, Tramp. Roy was preceded in death by his mother; father; brothers, Lee Roy, John Leland, JR and Bill R Walker; and sister, Ellen Harris. Survivors: Sister, Louise and her husband, Vernon Oliver, of Fort Worth; and five nieces, Marcia and her husband, Gary Powell, of Austin, Debby West of Grapevine, Sally Walker of Benton, Ark., Karen and her husband, Mike Dollar, of Dallas, Sue and her husband, Olin Beaver, of Fort Worth. He is also survived by two nephews, Don Oliver and wife, Bunny, of Fort Worth, and Gregory Walker and wife, Linda, of Wichita Falls; numerous great-nieces and nephews; his extended family, Bart and Chaney Respondek and their sons, Paden and Parker; and countless friends, business associates and loved ones.
