Ann Hopkins Allphin, 77, passed away peacefully December 6, 2013 at home in Washington, Utah with her husband, Marlan Allphin by her side.

Ann was born August 4, 1936 in Madera, California to Harold C. and Betty Lou Rico Hopkins. She attended schools in Jerome, AZ and Whittier California, graduating from high school in Snowflake, AZ. Attended BYU in Provo, UT. Married Marlan A. Allphin, September 5, 1956 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Lived in Whittier, CA, Jerome, AZ, Snowflake, AZ, Provo, UT, Shelley, ID, Spanish Fork, UT, Washington City, UT. Served as a clerk, later the Children's Librarian for Spanish Fork Public Library.

Ann joined the LDS Church at age 18 and held various positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but liked teaching best. Marlan and Ann served a CES mission teaching English at Benemerito de las Americas Preparatory School, and at the Instituto Agricola in Mexico City 1997-1998.

Survivors include her husband, Marlan Asay Allphin, brother, William Hopkins of Juneau, AK, children, Mary Ann Allphin Petersen (Scott) of Yuba City, CA, John Steven Allphin (Anita) of Payson, UT, Susan Allphin Ostler (Donnell) of Highland, UT, Joseph Douglas Allphin (Marcie) of Lindon, UT, William James Allphin (Jo Deann) of St. George, UT, Julie Allphin Dulany of Santaquin , UT, Mark Hopkins Allphin (Edna) of Springville UT, and Kathryn Allphin Watters of Provo, UT, 40 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Mary A. and Jonathan Hopkins, who died as young children, grandson Billy Nuzman and Granddaughter Megan Bates.

Ann loved her family, family gatherings, cooking, reading, flower gardening, cats, conversations, crossword puzzles, painting Christmas tree ornaments, holidays, picnics, collecting rocks and the spectacular scenery Utah offers.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Washington LDS 11th Ward Chapel, 700 East Telegraph St., Washington, Utah. A visitation will be held on Friday prior to services from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be held at the Washington City Cemetery.
