Earl Jones has been a unique figure in Kettering most all the years I have lived here. He always proudly supported our democracy by allowing yard signs from any political party or person in his yard on Far Hills Avenue. I remember one year they were close to 20 yard signs that made a lot of different elected officials quite happy.
As an active resident, Earl could always be counted on to critically, but brilliantly and thoroughly, analyze new tax issues proposed. His numbers were accurate, well thought out and professionally done. He was never afraid to speak before the City Council in Kettering to share his thoughts. While I didn’t always agree with him I came to truly respect his opinion and thoroughness in analyzing a specific issue.
As a community servant, Earl was active in our television broadcasts for several decades. He received well deserved kudos from the Miami Valley Communications Council and all of us that worked with him on city council.
Earl served his God, his community, and his family in admirable ways. May he rest in peace.
