CRISFIELD-Charles Weldon "Chick" Hinman, 74, of Crisfield died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at McCready Memorial Hospital.

Born in Crisfield April 24, 1939, he was a son of the late Charles Leroy and Joanne Wilson Hinman. His wife, Mary Elizabeth Nelson Hinman died Aug. 6, 1994.

A 1957 graduate of Crisfield High School, he was a retired manager of the restaurant at the American Legion Post #16 in Crisfield. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #16 in Crisfield, Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044, Moose Lodge #2431 in Westover, and the Redmen Lodge #149 in Fruitland. He was also in the Army Reserves. Chick was an avid Orioles fan, baseball card collector, shuffleboard player, and he loved to dance the jitterbug.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy J. Cuff and husband Jeff of Marion, and Patti Evans and husband Tom of Eden; a step-daughter, Gwen Dize of Salisbury; four sisters, Dinah Neal and husband Butch of Salisbury, Becky Seaback and husband Greg of Florida, JoLynn Vincent and husband David of Columbus, Va., and Beverly Carnes and husband Robert of Savannah, Ga.; three brothers, Tommy Hinman and Jackie Hinman, both of Crisfield and Billy Hinman and wife Joyce of Princess Anne; ten grandchildren, Benjamin S. Mills, V., Donald Wharton, Jr., Charles Edward Hinman, Christopher Thomas Butler, Keli Ann Wooster, Amanda Fletcher, William Braxton Mills, Dana Danielle Dunithan, Julie Cuff, and Jeffrey Cuff, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Benjamin S. Mills, IV in 1998; and two brothers, Rick Hinman and Jerry Hinman.

A memorial service officiated by Pastors Steve Willing and Eddie Daniels will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Urn interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to Sons of American Legion Post #16, 126 Lorie Quinn Drive; Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406; or McCready Foundation, Building Fund, 201 Hall Highway, all Crisfield, Md 21817.
