AGE: 83 • New Castle

David "Dave" P. Hitchcock, age 83, of New Castle, DE passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014. Born in Dover, DE, he was the son of the late Charles Hitchcock and Catherine and Bo Wilson. Dave proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Since then, he has volunteered his time to helping veterans. He had currently served as treasurer for the Korean War Veterans Association and was past State Adjutant. He was an officer and co founder of The Conservative Caucus of Delaware. He was a man of integrity and was devoted to his faith. He was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden.

He is survived by his loving wife, Candita A. Weber Hitchcock; son, Daniel P. Hitchcock; step son, Vince Weber; daughters, Lucy L. Hitchcock, Pamela A. Anderson, Mary T. Espinosa (Raymond); step daughter, Emily Robinson (George); sisters, June Montz (Walter), Charlotte Halloway (Craig), and Edie Kohut (George); 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Norma R. Hitchcock; son, David P. Hitchcock, II; and his brother, Charles E. Hitchcock.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702. Another visitation will be held the following morning from 10-11 AM at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 140 Airport Rd, New Castle, DE 19720. A service in celebration of Dave's life will follow at 11 am. Burial will in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware, 19701. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heritage Presbyterian Church or to the Korean War Veterans Association c/o Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home.
