AGE: 87 • Newark

Joseph T. Paino, Jr., known fondly as "Uncle Joe," age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at his home, on Saturday, January 11, 2014.

Joe was born in Cortland, NY on January 28, 1926, and was a son of the late Joseph T. and Katherine Paino Cheseboro. A recipient of the Purple Heart, he honorably served his country in the US Marine Corps and was a proud member of the VFW Post #3792 in Middletown, DE. Joe was a supervisor at Smith Corona, in Cortland, NY, retiring after many years of dedicated service. A gifted bowler, he traveled the pro circuit for many years and was later inducted by his peers into the Bowling Hall of Fame in Cortland, NY. Joe owned and operated the pro shop located within Bowlerama in New Castle, DE.

He was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Middletown, DE. In his leisure time, he enjoyed working in his yard, visiting casinos, as well as going out to enjoy a good meal.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura Lilly McNatt Paino, who passed away in 2011 and his brother, Phillip Paino. Joe loved and cherished all of his relatives and was surrounded by a plethora of nieces and nephews and family who loved him dearly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the St. Joseph R.C. Church, 371 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE, where friends may call from 10 am until 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
