Michelle Harris (nee Richardville) passed away peacefully, July 26, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Chester, PA to William & Beatrice Richardville, raised in Delaware, she was a graduate from Claymont High School. Michelle started employment at the Sunoco Refinery in Marcus Hook, PA June 1978 in the 8C Unit and retired from the Transfer and Shipping Department in September 2012 after 34 years of service. She was in the first apprenticeship program, being 1 of 28 hires and 1 of 8 females to complete a 3 year apprenticeship for refinery operations. She was also a member of the Sunoco Fire Brigade. Michelle was a 38 year Life Active Member with Claymont Fire Company and in 1995 was recognized as the first Life Active Female Firefighter with 20 consecutive years at Claymont Fire Company. She also had the annual "Michelle Hassel Recognition Award" presented to the female who exemplifies hard work, commitment and dedication. Michelle held the position of Ambulance Captain.

Among her many interests, which included gardening, dancing, bird watching, going to the beach, she especially enjoyed horseback riding with her friends and dogs

Michelle is survived by her beloved husband Mark; Brother Jon Richardville (Peggy) of Wilmington and predeceased Father William; Mother Beatrice and Sister Melissa

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Helen Graham Center and Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care Michelle received.

A visitation with the family will be Thursday July 31 from 6-8pm and memorial service to follow at 8pm at the Claymont Ballroom, 3223 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Chesapeake Bay Foundation or Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
