Hanscom, Ronald LeRoy "Ron"
Ronald "Ron" LeRoy Hanscom was born in Oakland, CA on June 6, 1933 to Anne Delano and Francis LeRoy Hanscom. He attended public schools in Berkeley, CA and graduated in 1955 with a BA degree in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley. He served 2 years as an officer in the US Navy after marrying his high school sweetheart, Ann Houston.
His insurance career began in San Francisco at Fireman's Fund Insurance Company which transferred him to Salt Lake City, Utah and then to Denver, Colorado where he lived until his death on April 7, 2021. In the 1970's he joined the Talbert Corporation, a Denver agency specializing in insurance and bonding. He was a hiker, cross country skier, bicyclist and Master swimmer. Two stokes limited these activities but not his zest for music and travel. He was a pianist and banjoist with the Queen City Jazz Band for 14 years. He and Ann traveled with Ports of Call & Elder Hostel.
They lived at Clermont Park senior community for the last 8 years. Ron is survived by his wife Ann of 65 years, his brother Bob Hanscom (Anne), his children Mark Hanscom (Leslie), Leigh Hanscom Downing (Sam), grandchildren; Jeff Downing (Angelina), Kate Downing, John Hanscom (Elise), Margaret Hanscom and great grandson Liam Downing.
