Obituary Condolences

Charlie Ray Beasley, 81, passed away on December 1, 2012. He was an outstanding citizen, a loving caring husband, father and son. Born 1931 in Fort Worth Texas, Charlie enjoyed a wonderful life filled with many accomplishments. He'd learned early on to play the trumpet participating in his high school marching band and later on to his own jazz band called Knights of Soul. He started his successful career in the military where he served 20 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant in Japan in 1968. It was there that he met his beautiful wife, Masae Beasley. After he retired from the military, Charlie worked at the USO office in Japan where he met many working in the entertainment industry. In 1972, he moved his family to El Paso and became a student at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) earning Bachelors in Business Administration and a Master's in Education. While completing his studies at UTEP, he began working at the UTEP mail office later becoming the gifts coordinator for the university library. After his tenure at UTEP, he worked at Fort Bliss as a civil servant assisting soldiers in furthering their education. In 1991Charlie moved his family to Fort Worth to serve as a successful motivational teacher helping young women on to a better life. Moving from Fort Worth to Albuquerque, Charlie worked at the Kirtland Air Force Base Family Support Center as a transition specialist, assisting military service personnel in transitioning back to civilian life. After spending time in New Mexico, he officially retired, returning to live in El Paso. Charlie enjoyed volunteering his time in community services where he was a docent at the Holocaust Museum and enjoyed visiting with the elderly at the local nursing home. Charlie was a living example of his favorite phrase, "If you can help somebody, do it." He is survived by his wife, Masae Beasley, eight children: Carl, Umi, Paul, Mark, Michi, Cathy, Charlie Jr., and Brenda, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 1:30PM at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, with full military honors. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr. El Paso, TX 79912.
