Obituary Condolences

William R. " Bill " Chesak died Sept. 19, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born in San Antonio, TX. Bill was the son of William J. and Verna Chesak, who he called the greatest parents in the world. Bill attended Dudley Grade school and El Paso High where he excelled in athletics. He was awarded most valuable player in District 4-AA and received all-state honors in 1945. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp and went on to attend Texas Western College where he again, excelled in football. Bill scored the Miner's first touchdown in the 1950 Sun Bowl victory against Georgetown. Bill went on to a successful career in sales. He was inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992. Bill was preceded in death by his mother Verna Chesak and father William J. Chesak and brother Bob Chesak. He is survived by his son Russell, daughter-in-law Gina and grandchildren Matthew & Meghan. Services will be held privately by family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Miner Athletic Club at The University of Texas at El Paso, 500 W University, Kelly Hall 7th Floor, El Paso, TX 79968. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr. El Paso, Texas 79912.
