SPRING GROVE Phyllis A. (Grim) Stough Falkenstein, 77, was called to her Lord on June 22, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Luther B. Falkenstein; together they shared over 17 years of marriage. Luther was a very loving husband and father. She was predeceased by her first husband of 40 years, Richard E. Stough and her daughter, Suzette P. Knaub. Phyllis was born in Stewartstown on March 11, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Winafred (Swartz) Grim. She attended North York High School Class of 1956. She was a homemaker most of her life and a longtime member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in York. She was also a member of the Spring Grove VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the York Antique Auto Club and an Associate member of the Menders Rod and Custom Club and the Korean War Veterans Chapter 178 of York. She enjoyed volunteering with the veterans and always had fun at the car clubs. She enjoyed spending time with her friends but cherished the time she spent with her family and her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Winafred Aldinger and husband Paul of Seven Valleys, Rose Marie Messersmith Messersmith and husband Michael of York, Tina Felton and husband Matthew of East Berlin, Richlene Gannett and husband Garry of Dover, Velvet Kunkle and husband Troy of Red Lion; her son, Festus Stough and his wife Jaclyn of Spring Grove. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Cindy Burns and husband William of York, Marlene Rickcreek and husband Leon of Manchester, Darlene Naylor and husband William of York, Sharon Wagman and husband Michael of Spring Grove; 13 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many step-great grandchildren; her brothers, Glenn Grim and wife Freda, Wilmer Grim and wife Doris and Charles Grim and wife Carol; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service in celebration and thanksgiving for her life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Road, York, with Pastors Sara and Paul Gausmann officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Inc., 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, and on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the parlor at the church.
