JUNE L. KURTZ, 87, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Harlan, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at The Cedars, Leo. Born June 29, 1931 on the family farm in DeKalb County, Ind., she was a daughter of the late George and Grace (Ginder) Keller. She graduated from Butler High School where she played the baritone and accordion in the band and was involved in 4-H. June married the love of her life, George Kurtz, on July 21, 1951 and traveled with him while he was in the U.S. Army to Camp Gordon, Ga., and Fort Hood, Texas. June was a wonderful homemaker and devoted to her family and grandchildren. She attended and cheered on the grandkids at sporting events, musicals, and ballet recitals. A woman of deep faith, she was a member with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Pathway Christian Church, Harlan, and enjoyed playing the organ for several churches in the area for over 40 years. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, sewing, crocheting, baking, music, playing piano/organ, and traveling the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. June's family and friends rave about her peanut brittle, rhubarb pie, and mashed potatoes. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, George Kurtz of Fort Wayne; children, Marla Kurtz of Harlan, Jill (Tom) Weaver of Rochester, Ind., Becky (John) Montgomery of Fishers, Ind., and Ralph (Diana) Kurtz of New Haven; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susan Kurtz; and sisters, Marilyn Burdick, Ruth Coburn, and Lois Scheele.
