Obituary

DR. LOWELL E. MADDEN, was called to eternal life with his Triune God on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and a resident of Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a graduate of South Side High School from which he received the Distinguished Alumni Award. He earned the B.A. and M.S. degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington and the doctoral degree from Ball State University. His professional career included teaching in elementary and secondary schools, serving as a school counselor and administrator and teaching at IPFW as a professor of education. He was the recipient of several teaching awards from both IPFW and IUB, as well as from community and professional organizations, and authored numerous professional manuscripts and books. He was the former president of both the Fort Wayne Area Council of the International Reading Association and Phi Delta Kappa, Chapter 1035. He loved to read, play golf, present children's magic shows, exercise and spend time with his daughter and friends. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Beth Moore; wonderful friends and relatives and cherished former students. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lorraine Madden. Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr Street with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at the Alliance Community Church, 5610 Lahmeyer Road. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, Ind.
