Carol VandenBoogart Obituary
VandenBoogart, Carol

Carol VandenBoogart, cherished mother, sister and friend, passed away at home on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Carol was born on November 25, 1943, in Oconto, to Elmer and Kathryn (Lipp) Belongia. After graduating from Green Bay West High School, Carol worked at Alwins Manufacturing, Red Owl Bakery and Bay City Cab. While working at Bay City Cab, Carol met her husband, Dennis VandenBoogart. They were married on May 8, 1971 and welcomed their only daughter together, Kelly, in 1977. Carol then purchased Bay City Cab and was dedicated to making it the most successful venture possible. Throughout this endeavor, she built many lasting relationships with customers, employees, and businesses in the area.

When not working, Carol was an enthusiastic shopaholic and traveler - enjoying cruises and vacations to places such as Australia, Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Orlando, Miami, Boston, San Diego, and many, many others. She was a long-term member of the PBX Telecommunicators Club, through which she formed many friendships and was named International Boss of the Year. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, bowling, watching tennis tournaments and crime-based television series and, most importantly to her, spending time with family and loved ones.

Carol is survived by her daughter; two sisters, Laverne Salmon and Helen (Robert) Wellens; mother-in-law, Arlene VandenBoogart; sister-in-law, Nancy White; nieces, Theresa (David) Dresang, Jean (Rick) Prevost, Lyn Barnard, Karen Siebrecht, Donna Sigouin, Laure Willemsen, Sandy Truckey; nephews, Richard (Carrie) Peters, Steve (Sue Peters), John Peters and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family. Carol believed that you could choose your family by surrounding yourself with people you loved. In this respect, she is also survived by dear friends, Margaret Miracle, Marie Yuchnitz, Sharon Ahern, and Brenda and Alana Deprey.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; brother, Russell; parents, Elmer and Kathryn (Lipp) Belongia; brother-in-law, Richard Salmon; sister-in-law, Shirley Zinda; nephew, Theodore (Butch) Peters, Jr.; and dear friend, Daniel Miracle.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Friends may also call at the funeral home from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Celebration of Carol's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. To send online condolences, please go to
