Boehler, Paul Hamilton

Paul Hamilton Boehler, 87, Green Bay, died peacefully at home April 29, 2014, of COPD. He was born in Lansing, Michigan December 31, 1926, the son of Charles F. and Carrie (Hamilton) Boehler. Paul attended Michigan Avenue and Genesee Grade Schools, West Junior High and Sexton High School while living in Lansing. He was a member of the tennis team as well as the basketball team at Sexton High.

After graduation, Paul entered the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Fall River (heavy cruiser CA-131) on the Atlantic and at the Atomic Bomb Test Site at Bikini Atoll, but was discharged before the actual test. On June 17, 1950, he was fortunate enough to be married to his true love, Barbara Bates, also of Lansing, MI. On June 17, 2013, they celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Barb is indeed the love of his life.

Paul was the casualty claims manager of Auto Owners Insurance Company in Green Bay. After retirement he was an active volunteer at the Weidner Center, the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, and at Bellin Hospital where he was recognized for over 5000 hours of service. He was a loyal blood donor with the American Red Cross and a sustaining member of Wisconsin Public Radio whose classical music joyfully filled his home. Paul was a former deacon at Preble Presbyterian Church and a current member of First United Presbyterian Church.
