Dale E. Lium, age 82, of Two Rivers, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Hamilton Care Center, Two Rivers.

Dale was born on December 18, 1931, in Barron, the son of the late Oscar and Dorothy (Wes) Lium. On August 6, 1983, Dale married Diane (Jackman) Barta. Dale graduated from River Falls State College. After graduation, Dale served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. While serving, Dale sang in a Vocal Quartet that toured throughout the South Pacific. After serving his country, he continued his education receiving his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He truly enjoyed his many years of teaching Chemistry at Elkhorn High School and Washington High School in Two Rivers. While in Elkhorn, Dale put his many talents to good use and built a beautiful home using his many skills. Dale's true legacy is the many students that he educated not only in science and math but in many areas of their lives. Dale enjoyed playing golf and tinkering in the garage. After his retirement in 1994, Dale and his wife traveled the world visiting thirty-four countries. Dale took great pleasure in visiting with his former students in Two Rivers and on his travels, and hearing their life stories. Dale was a member of the Clipper City Chordsman and the Emanuel United Methodist Church Choir. In later years he kept in touch with friends at their Tuesday morning breakfast group and was always eager to sit down and share the many stories of his life.

Survivors include his wife: Diane Lium, Two Rivers; his son: Jeff Lium, Florida; his granddaughter: Tischa (Steve) Donaldson, Arizona; and two great granddaughters: Kiahra and Rylan. He is further survived by his step-children: Scott Barta, Florida, Terry (Jack) Brewer, Bend, Oregon, Lauri (Charley) Miller, Bend, Oregon, Joel (Lisa) Barta, Saumico, and Stacey (Tom) Lee, Portland, Oregon; eleven grandchildren and many other friends and relatives.
