Three years later, he transferred to the Middletown (Ohio) Journal, where he was publisher for 12 years, and then the Journal-News in Hamilton, where he was publisher for seven years. Bob was an avid reader and life-long learner; he took classes at the University of Dayton following his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed good company and interesting conversation with friends old and new. He was an outstanding athlete, having excelled in baseball and basketball into his 20s. He was a terrific tennis player and enjoyed playing with good friends and family. Bob was a true gentleman, a devoted husband, great father and proud grandpop. He always put family first.
