Jean H. MARCEL Obituary


Mr. Jean Homer Marcel, 71, of Vernon, formerly of Manchester died on Friday, June 21, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born on June 22, 1941 in Hartford son of the late Jean L. and Agnes (St.Onge) Marcel. Jean was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and had lived in Vernon for most of his life. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Navy aboard the USS. Fiske (DDR #842). Jean was a member of the Tin Can Sailors and American Legion #0200. Prior to retiring he had been employed by Amerbelle in Rockville over forty years, and in his later years he enjoyed traveling around the world. Jean is survived by his two sisters and brother, Jeanne Castoldi of Enfield, Charles Marcel of Vernon and Suzanne Carter and her husband, Elwood of Manchester, two nieces, three nephews and their families, many close and wonderful friends including Rusty Daub of Manchester and his beloved cat Odin. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Raymond Paul Castoldi and his sister-in-law, Evelyn Rita Marcel.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. with a service to begin at 11 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Manchester.
