Joseph E. Interlandi Obituary
Joseph E. Interlandi, 87 of Newington, passed away on Wednesday, June 5th at Hughes Health & Rehabilitation in West Hartford. He was the loving husband of wife, Nancy "Tina", to whom he was married for 57 years, and is also survived by sons, Eugene Interlandi of Newington, John Interlandi and daughter-in-law Kerri Powers Interlandi of Canton, and Joseph Interlandi of Newington. Joseph was born in 1931 in Hartford, to his father, Eugene Interlandi from Solarino, Sicily and his mother, Anna Interlandi (Carnevalini) from Floridia, Sicily.Joseph's father, Eugene, started his new life in the United States by immigrating through Ellis Island in 1920, and soon returned to Sicily to marry his love, Anna. After settling in Hartford, they welcomed Joseph and Augustine (previously deceased).Joseph attended Weaver High School, Cheshire Academy, UConn, University of Hartford and RPI. He was a true believer of hard work and education and he demonstrated his philosophy through athletic and educational achievement. Joseph proudly served actively in the US Military. After serving his country, he attended UConn to pursue Physical Education, but realized that Engineering was his calling. He was dedicated to his occupation working for Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years, during which time he continued his philosophy of education by completing a Masters in Engineering. After his retirement, Joseph continued his passion for the things he enjoyed, including reading, following his favorite sport teams, the New York Yankees and the Boston Celtics and enjoying evenings with his beautiful wife, Nancy "Tina". Joe was a quiet and private man, but when speaking about his family to others, he wouldn't be at a loss for words.
