Paul J. Giangrave, 86, of Newington, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. Born in Hartford December 15, 1932, Paul was the beloved husband of Dolores (Natalie) Giangrave and son of the late Joseph and Concetta (Lenares) Giangrave. Paul graduated from UCONN School of Pharmacy, earning his Master's Degree and 6th year certificate from the University of Hartford. He was employed as a pharmacist for Twin City Drug for many years and taught science for the Hartford Public School System. He later became the Science Chairman for Hartford's High Schools. An all-around athlete, he enjoyed sports throughout his lifetime, especially ping pong, pool, tennis, football and racquetball, wrestling, and swimming. Most of all he cherished time spent with his family, especially at their beach house in Old Lyme.Besides his wife Dolores, Paul is survived by his children, Lisa Balducci and her husband David of Newington, Paula Lawless of Newington, and Daniel Giangrave and his wife Roberta of Plainville. He is also survived by his brother, Santo Giangrave of East Hartford, his sister, Josephine Calvo of South Windsor. He leaves eight grandchildren and soon to be ten great grandchildren, Joseph, Cori, Rachel, Paul, Kelly, Vinney, Nicole, Laura, Tyler, J.J., Mila, Olivia, Dylan, Paulie, and Kristian. Paul was predeceased by his son, Joseph Giangrave in 2006. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Nurse Trish and Home Health Aides Rosa and Jadwiga.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 12th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 655 East Street, New Britain. There are no calling hours. Everyone is asked to meet the family directly at church. Afterward Inurnment will follow the mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum where Paul will be laid to rest beside his son Joseph.
