Mr. Edward "Eddie" Parnell

Hattiesburg, MS

Mr. Edward "Eddie" Parnell, 82, was a patriotic, civic leader, who served in the U.S. Army and as a Fireman for New York City Fire Department. He took great pride in his community and made valuable contributions in New York, NY, Chipley, FL, Lutcher, LA, and his final hometown of Hattiesburg, MS. He was a true entrepreneur and ventured in real estate, construction and broadcasting. Mr. Parnell had a big heart and was committed to enhancing the lives of others. He founded, Second Chance, an independent non-profit agency, which paired volunteers with troubled youth. He generously shared his knowledge and skills; always ready with a helping hand, listening ear and sound advice. Many enjoyed his weekly talk show on 92.1 WJMG Radio.

He passed on Monday, May 19, 2014, and will be missed by his wife, Darlean; daughters, Ramona and Gail; brothers, James (Bessie) and Lloyd (Bettie); 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at First Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Little River, Sumrall, MS. Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 3 - 7 p.m. at Cook Galloway Funeral Home, Columbia, MS.
