George Gebert
June 1, 1925 - August 23, 2014
George Gebert passed away at West Valley Medical Center on August 23, 2014. Graveside services to honor his life will be held at Lower Boise Cemetery on Thursday, August 28th at 10:30.
George was born in Caldwell on June 1, 1925 to Fred and Barbara Gebert. He grew up in Central Cove, near Homedale and attended schools there. George enlisted in the US Army during World War II and was honorably discharged November 30, 1946.
George married a childhood friend and sweetheart, Rose Steinebach on August 14, 1949. They enjoyed 60 years together and rarely were they seen apart. They lived in the Sunny Slope area before moving north of Caldwell where they farmed until 1989. The family spent a short time living outside of Nyssa, Ore., before moving back to their Caldwell farm. In 1989 George and Rose moved to their present location outside of Parma.
George worked hard and truly enjoyed working outdoors. He was a good cattleman and farmed all of his life. Most recently working for Winchester Ranch where he and Rosie developed a wonderful friendship with the Winchester family. He cared deeply about his family and always enjoyed the company of a dog.
Over the years we have enjoyed our special family dinners held every Sunday, and he will be dearly missed by friends and family.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; son Robert; his parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
George is survived by his son Allen (Debbie) Gebert, daughter-in-law Eileen, granddaughter Chelle Robins (Jeff) and great grandchildren Marcus and Claire Rosie, and brother Charlie Gebert.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a gift could be made in his name to the school of his great grandchildren: Four Rivers Community School, 2449 SW 4th Ave. Ontario, OR 97914.
Memories and condolences may be shared with George's family in his online tribute at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
