Helen Marie Rambo
1/29/1927 - 8/2/2014
Helen Marie Rambo went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on August 2, 2014. Helen was born the oldest child of Rev. Lowell and Laura Rambo January 29, 1927 in Hutchison, Kansas where Helen's father was pastor of the local Nazarene Church.
In 1949 Helen graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho with a degree in History. Upon her graduation she was hired to teach high school English and History in Emmett, Idaho. She later attended the University of Washington and graduated with a master's degree in Library Science in 1957. With degree in hand, Helen returned to her alma mater to become catalogue librarian.
Helen was a fixture in the workroom of the Riley Library at Northwest Nazarene University until her retirement in 1994. She was proud of her work on various library associations throughout the Northwest and was an active member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Helen volunteered to edit master's theses and doctoral dissertations for faculty members and friends. At last count, Helen had edited over 30 dissertations. Never idle, Helen spent her retirement years crocheting blankets for the Linus project, doing family genealogy, and keeping the archives for College Church of the Nazarene. At age 80 Helen joined a People to People Ambassador group to China even having her picture made on the Great Wall of China.
Helen is survived by her sister Lulu Mae Appert of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her brother Richard Rambo of Kennewick, Washington, nephew Michael, niece Diana, great nieces Lisa and Kelly, and her great-grand nephew, Nel. Helen expressed her gratitude to the staff of Sunnyridge and Grace Assisted Living. The family wishes to express their thanks to the XL Hospice workers.
