Gerry L. Williams

73, of Indianapolis, was born June 14, 1941 and died on March 21, 2015. He was born in Indianapolis, to Ernest and Rose Williams. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and served in the US Marine Corp. Later in life, he served on the Color Guard for the Fortville American Legion. He worked at Western Electric/AT&T for 30 years before retiring in 1995. While working, he aided many of his fellow workers through his efforts for the Communication Workers of America Labor Union. Gerry was all about his friends and sports. He loved pro football and college basketball. March Madness was an important part of the year for him. He always rooted for the IU Hoosiers. A big part of Gerry's life involved racing and cars. He was an NHRA National Champion and Record Holding Drag Racer. He loved the Indianapolis 500 and his 3rd turn grandstand seats. A.J. Foyt was his hero. He went to several Daytona 500 races and then stayed in Florida to walk on the beach. He loved all classic cars and a yearly trip to Auburn, Indiana was special to him. Gerry was a classic Corvette expert. He owned three of these special cars. He also had a big love for horses and horse racing. He always looked forward to the Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup Races.
