Margaret Ann Schilling

79, passed away June 17, 2014. The daughter of Hugo and Henrietta Johnson, she was born Jan. 9, 1935 in Bloomington, IN. She moved to Indianapolis in 1942, where she graduated from Broad Ripple High School. In 1956, she graduated from Indiana University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. While at IU, she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and the board of standards, and was a senior class officer. She pursued a post-graduate degree at Butler University. Margaret taught at Wood High School in Indianapolis for four years and was also a substitute teacher at Shortridge and Broad Ripple High Schools. For many years, she worked as a receptionist at the Schilling family business, Indianapolis Rubber Stamp Company. Margaret was a long-time member of the St. Margaret's Hospital Guild, the Stansfield Circle, and the Second Presbyterian Church. At Meridian Hills Country Club, where she was a member for 30 years, she regularly played golf, though she was a much better tennis player. She also enjoyed playing bridge and gardening. She is survived by David Schilling, who she married in June 1956, and their three children: Amy, of Thompson Falls, Mont.; Mark, of Zionsville; and Scott, of New Albany. Her sister, Martha Fairbanks, also survives. In lieu of flowers, the Schilling family requests that contributions in her honor be made to St. Margaret's Hospital Guild.
