Michael T. Latz Obituary

Michael Thomas Latz

51, of Zionsville, died March 29, 2013 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 23, 1962 to David and Barbara Ann (Fisher) Latz. Michael was a 1980 graduate of Brebeuf Prepatory School and received both a BS in Civil Engineering and a BS in Land Surveying from Purdue University. Michael married Suk Kyong "Sukie" Kim on September 7, 1996 in Dallas, Texas. He was a former employee of American Structurepoint.

Being a devoted husband to Sukie and dad to his two children, Emma and Lachlan, were the most important things in Michael's life. He used his engineering skills to help build sets for Emma's ballet recitals, and he coached Lachlan's soccer team and helped with his football team. Michael enjoyed working with wood, hiking in the mountains, and cheering for his beloved Green Bay Packers. He owned shares in the Packers, and has his name on a brick at Lambeau Field. Michael served his community as a member of the Boone County Redevelopment Committee and as a board member and former president of the Boone County Economic Development Committee.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife and children, Sukie, Emma and Lachlan; his mother Barbara Latz; his brother Mark "Hawk" Latz (Holly) and sister Lisa Latz Condes (Scott); and loving nieces and nephews Che'lee, Ellia , and Yeahsen John and Ava and Maya Latz and his extended loving family. He was preceded in death by his father, David Latz, D.D.S.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak, Zionsville. Services will be Wednesday, April 3 at 11 a.m. with calling from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.
