Krohn, Edward J. Age 87, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013. Beloved husband of over 64 years to Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Giuntoli). Loving father of William (Beth) Krohn and John (Gaile) Krohn. Proud grandfather of Kristen (Scott) Williams, David Krohn, Lisa and Kevin Krohn. Great-grandfather to Emma. Dear brother to Joyce Petroviak. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Dorothy. A distinguished retiree of 30 years in the United States Marine Corps, Edward proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He was in the Fourth Marine Division serving in Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima, from which he was awarded the Purple Heart. A life member of the Fourth Marine Division Association, he was also involved with the American Legion the VFW and other veteran's service organizations. He was also retired from the Milwaukee County Parks System, working as a floriculturist at the Mitchell Park Domes and the county greenhouse. Ed was also proud of the flower gardens he kept around his home. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a founding member of the Rite Hite YMCA both in Brown Deer. Visitation in the Funeral Home on Monday, February 11, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM and Tuesday from 9 to 10 AM. A funeral service with full military honors will follow at 10 AM. Edward will be laid to rest with his comrades in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI. For those wishing, memorials are appreciated to the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund.
