Raymond Boutin Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Gerard Boutin, 80, owner and operator of Boutin & Sons Construction Co., passed away Jan. 1, 2019.

Born in Hartford to the late Gerard and Rita (Croteau) Boutin, Ray lived his childhood years in Hartford. Then he moved with his family to East Windsor (Broad Brook) where he helped his father and brothers start the family business. First making cement blocks, then septic systems and eventually getting into the paving business.

Ray was a hard worker who would put in 12-hour days still, working up until the paving season ended. Ray was loved by many people. He was the kindest, nicest person you would ever meet and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Ray was an avid golfer and snowmobiler. He was very fond of all of his friends at Airways Golf Course in Suffield and his snowmobile friends who treated him like family. Ray was a member of the East Windsor Rotary Club, German Club, Mustache Club, Horse thieves, and Ketch Hollow Club.

Ray leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Corrine and Joseph Shemerluk; grandkids who he adored, Brian and Emily Shemerluk, all of Broad Brook; his brother, Bob Boutin of Andover; his sister and brother-in-law whom cared for him the past few months at his home, Connie and Rich Dwyer of South Carolina, Paul and Debbie Boutin of New York; and his nieces and nephews and many extended family members, too many to mention. Ray appreciated all of his employees who were there for him through thick and thin and for that he will always be grateful to you all.

Ray touched many of our lives, from family to work relationships who he made many friends with. Ray will be sorely missed and the world was a better place with him in it. He fought the good fight until the end saying "I'm a Marine, I'm tough." Ray's family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the ICU at St. Francis Hospital for their tireless effort in caring for Ray the last few months.

Watch over us Dad, you can now rest in peace. I love you Dad!

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at St. Catherine's Church, 6 Windsorville Road, Broad Brook. Burial will follow at Windsorville Cemetery, Broad Brook.
