Steve Clifford Gage Sr.
Steve Clifford Gage Sr. died at his home in Ellensburg on Saturday, November 23, 2013, attended by his family.
Steve was born in Ellensburg on November 25, 1941 to Clifford S. Gage and Phyllis R. Ferguson Gage. He was always proud of his pioneer and rodeo heritage, and took up bareback riding for a time. He remained a lifelong rodeo fan.
He started his education at the Dammon School before attending Lincoln Elementary, Washington Elementary, and Morgan Junior High. He was a sprinter on the Ellensburg High School track team, graduating in 1959 and then attending the University of Washington for a year.
Steve worked for the US Forest Service and Mr. G's Grocery Store before starting a 37 year career with the US Post Office here.
An avid reader, books about rodeo, guns, and hunting were among Steve's constant companions, and he enjoyed stalking deer, elk, and game birds in the Kittitas Valley area.
A true son of Ellensburg, Steve will be sorely missed by his surviving family, including his wife of fifty years, Patricia Ann James Gage, his two sons, Justin and Steve Jr., his father Clifford Gage, his sister Ruth Ann Olney, four grandchildren in New York, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
