HELEN CLORIS HARRIS

HELEN CLORIS (KNOCHE) HARRIS Helen "Cloris" (Knoche) Harris, 77, of Guayaquil, Ecuador, South America, died Feb. 3, 2014 at the Luis Verna Hospital of a heart attack. Services were held Feb. 4, 2014 at the Bethel Branch Office, Guayaquil, Ecuador. She was laid to rest beside her husband, Harley Harris, at the Chongon General Cemetery, Chongon, Guayaquil. Cloris was born Feb. 10, 1936, the first child of Glen William and Lydia (Lowman) Knoche. She graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1953 and in that same year married James Vernon Coleman. The marriage ended in divorce. In 1962 she married Harley Harris who was a Circuit Overseer for Jehovah's Witness. After four years of circuit work in the Kansas-Missouri area, they were accepted into the Jehovah's Witness Bible School of Gilead, NY, graduating in 1966. Immediately after graduation, Cloris and her husband accepted an assignment as missionaries in Cuenca, Ecuador. They traveled throughout the country teaching and visiting congregations until 1970 when they were assigned to the Bethel Branch office in Guayaquil. There Cloris worked as an accountant in the administrative center, while continuing to serve and minister to the Ecuadorian people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Harris; parents, Glen and Lydia Knoche and a sister, Mary Elizabeth. Cloris is survived by a sister, Eleanor "Gertie" Zuvanich, Spring Hill, KS.
