To the Shannon family I offer my deepest sympathies. I had the pleasure of getting to know Bill when I got to work with him at Sam's in Lubbock. His good humor, and get things done attitude made him a great guy to work with. Personally, I count myself so lucky to have gotten to know Bill and Gail. He was a fine gentleman, who was a sterling example of the Greatest Generation and all they represented.

I think for anyone who was ever a member of the Lubbock 5th YSA Branch right around the turn of this last century, Bill & Gail Shannon will be not only our Brother and Sister in the Gospel, but, forever,...Grandpa & Grandma. Truly "Christlike friends whose gentle ways, strengthen[ed] our faith, enrich[ed] our days." All our love...

Bill was a great neighbor. We lived across the street from him and Gail on 92nd Street for 5 years. They were always friendly and always checking on us and our girls. He always had smile on his face and a wave for us everytime we saw him outside. Bill gave us tickets to a BYU dance troupe production one time and we thoroughly enjoyed it! He was a wonderful, caring, kind man! The family is in our prayers! May your hearts be filled with peace and joy during this difficult time. Terrell, Lisa, Kelsey & Mackenzie Thrasher

Dearest Shannon Family, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost Bill. He was a very special, sweet and loving man. He told me the most sweetest thing some 13 years ago, that he even though I was a legal part of the family, that he would always consider me a part of the family. I will be thinking and praying for you all. Just remember, you know have a third wondermous, guardian angle watching over you. All my love, D.J.
