Shirley Evanti Lewis Donaldson, age 82, passed away peacefully January 6, 2019.

Shirley was born August 27, 1936 to Grady L. Lewis, Sr. and Jessie M. Lane Lewis.

She graduated from Austin High School Class of 1954; attended Fisk University and graduated cum laude from Knoxville College in 1959. She served as Miss KC and was a member of Gamma Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She earned her Masters degree in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Michigan. Her career in education began in the Chicago Public School System and continued with the Detroit Public School System where she served as head of the Department of Guidance and Counselling until her retirement in 1990.

In 1961 she was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Ottis L. Donaldson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ottis in 1996; two brothers and two of her sisters.

Survived by her loving and devoted brother and sisters, Dr. Aldorothy L. Wright, Nashville, TN; Dr. James (Joanna) Lewis, Philadelphia, PA; Brenda L. Peel, Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law Dr. McKinley Dillingham, Chicago, IL; John W. Donaldson, Morristown, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Family will receive friends, 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, homegoing celebration, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2714 Brooks Rd., Knoxville, TN 37914. Rev. Dr. Johnnie W. Skinner, Sr. officiating.

Interment, Berry Highland South Cemetery, Chapman Highway where a white dove release will conclude the services.
