April 11, 1928 - January 16, 2021 On Saturday, January 16, Joan Major passed away peacefully at the age of 92. She is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, who was devoted to Joan throughout their 71 year marriage, and her brother Richard Smolens. Born in Manhattan, New York, Joan was a graduate of New York University. She was a talented musician, who played piano professionally for many years. She was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Joan spent much of her life in Southern California, where she and Arthur raised their family. Joan is survived by her loving daughters, Beth Phillips (Randy), Susan Kingsley (Robert) and Pati Zaccaria (David). Joan is also survived by her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Joan was loved and cherished, and will forever be in our hearts.
