Robert W. Wright NEWMANSTOWN Robert W. Wright, 87, died Thursday, February 6, 2014, surrounded by loved ones in his home. He was the loving, devoted husband of Charlotte G. (Schaber) Wright, to whom he was married 58 years. Born in Ilion, N.Y. on July 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Clair R. and Blanche L. (Finch) Wright. Bob was a graduate of Syracuse University and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. He was employed as an engineer at Hershey Chocolate through 1990, where he worked at the Reese plant and was instrumental in building the new plant in Stuarts Draft, Va. Bob was proud of his family and made time to take them on adventures. He enjoyed being a Scoutmaster in Stouchsburg and Syracuse, N.Y. and spent family vacations in Salisbury, N.Y. In his retirement, Bob was an active member in both the South Lebanon Lions Club and the Lebanon Chapter of AARP. He was a member of the Church of Christian Outreach, Newmanstown. Bob was a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, and enjoyed crosswords, traveling with his wife, bus trips, and tinkering in his garage and basement. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Carolyn M. Hartranft and her husband Jerry of Newmanstown; Robert W. Wright, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Newmanstown; and William J. Wright and his wife Linda of W. Hartford, Conn. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Nicholas and Joshua Wright, Allison, Jack and Natalie Wright, and Jason Hartranft and Jennifer Henry; as well as eight great-grandchildren; and a beloved cousin, Louise Chittenden of Utica, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Ann White, and a brother, Richard A. Christian. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christian Outreach, 101 W. Main St., Newmanstown. A gathering will be held at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Lebanon Lions Club, c/o Johan Berger, P.O. Box 132, Cornwall, PA 17016; or Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
