George H Bellows Eaton Rapids Passed from this life into glory on November 27, 2013. George was born at home in rural Eaton County August 29, 1927 to Arthur A. and Mabel Irene (King) Bellows. He worked on the family farm until 1945 when he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. George was a Boatswain's Mate third class and was honorably discharged on August 1948. He earned a Journeyman's rating as a fixture repairman at General Motors in Lansing and retired after 30 years of service. George married Martha Ann Thompson, June 20, 1947. He enjoyed hunting and took numerous trips to Wyoming with various friends and family. The family spent many enjoyable summers at their cottage on Horsehead Lake. He and Martha took many road trips throughout the United States stopping at all the quilt shops along the way. George is survived by his children, Allan A. (Barbara) Bellows of Eaton Rapids, Susan M. Bellows of Charlotte, Deborah L. (James) Charles of Parma; grandchildren, Chad A. (Donna) Bellows, Laura Marie F. (Caleb) Phelps, Jessica C. (Robert) Harbitz, Abigail J. Buchin, Jennie Charles; great grandchildren, Addison Owen and Stephanie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha in 2009; grandson, Patrick A. Bellows in 2009; parents in 1980 and 1983; sister, Shirley A. Hughes in 2002. Visitation will be Saturday November 30, 2013 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. with a funeral service at 4:30 pm at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids with Pastor Randy Royston officiating. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care "Hospice" 2675 S. Cochran Rd. Charlotte, MI 48813.
